A Future Technology region, The Local Cluster considers itself less of a "roleplaying region" in the traditional sense, and more of a "region for roleplayers." Any roleplayer that is involved in the NationStates Future Tech community or any roleplayer interested in becoming involved is welcome, insofar as they adhere to the fundamental code of behavior outlined in our Mission Statement, this includes Future Tech roleplayers mostly involved from Portal to the Multiverse, though we make no secret that most in the region are directly involved in National and International Roleplaying.
The Local Cluster includes several commonly-utilized resources and makes them readily available to players, including the FT Advice & Assistance Thread, The Compendium, and the "over glorified roleplay advertisement thread" of the State of the Galaxy. While not exclusive to any one region, with FT roleplayers from across NationStates utilizing the same, The Local Cluster also makes extensive use of the NSFT Discord; all FTers (or those interested) are welcome, just be certain to read the rules provided in the #directory channel.
The Local Cluster regularly engages in the periodic NationStates events - to include April Fool's, Z-Day, and the most recent nuclear annihilation of NationStates. We often participate in a "free-for-all" capacity, leading to the region becoming both a target and a thoroughfare for those targeting others. All the same, we often rank well in the events and, generally, have a lot of fun all around.
As noted, The Local Cluster considers itself less of a "roleplaying region" and more of a "region for roleplayers." There is no united, regional canon, with most members broadly participating in the nebulous network of canon and continuity present in the NSFT community on the National and International Roleplaying boards. As an open region (no invitation or password required), and in the spirit of the Advice Thread, this means there are often lively discussions and debate on our Regional Message Board, with players freely providing their opinions, thoughts, and constructive criticism. Similarly, while The Local Cluster does not broadcast itself as a "training region," its community is filled with players - both new and veteran - willing to provide advice, assistance, and constructive criticism to anyone who posts their ideas or seeks the same. By the same token, The Local Cluster shares embassies with numerous FT-oriented or FT-interested regions (as well as a few other, more nebulous roleplaying regions) in an effort to try and provide players with other avenues for roleplay involvement and participation that may interest them.
Further, unlike many regions, The Local Cluster does not have a regional government; instead, it maintains the Procuratorate: a series of individual Mentors specializing in Future Tech that are committed to both maintaining a friendly, welcoming environment, but also keeping things fairly "hands-off," allowing the regional participants to discuss things and often come to their own conclusions. The Procuratorate does not make a habit of interceding spare when matters become heated, have the potential to become heated quickly, or otherwise violate our Mission Statement. The current members of the Procuratorate include: Imperial and Federal Union of States (Lubyak), Kyrusia, and The United Dominion (Santheres).
If you are interested, feel free to drop by!
